About
Many of us focus on the negative in life. We tell ourselves what we are not and what we don’t do. We obsess about what we have done wrong.
I am a positive psychotherapist. Positive psychology is about understanding why you do the things that you do in a manner that shows strength and not weakness because those who focus on the positive in life are happiest.
However, sometimes changing thoughts to be more positive is not enough to heal. Instead, what is needed is a change in habits, actions, or routines. When people adopt certain habits they can increase their level of well-being or happiness.
One habit that is particularly powerful is focusing on the here and now. We live in what tomorrow will be or what yesterday was and forget about living in the present moment.
Although I feel therapy should understand the past and its influence on the present, I have found that focusing on the here and now is very effective and even necessary for particular issues.
I am a licensed Marital and Family therapist. I have a masters and doctorate from the University of Connecticut and have been practicing as a psychotherapist for the last 8 years. I am an adjunct professor at Lewis and Clark college. I am the author of the book: “Pleasure: The Secret Ingredient in Happiness.”
